Not every kitchen is suitable for placing a kitchen island. Because of an impractical or too small space you will sometimes have to opt for a semi-open island like the one below. A detached kitchen island in a small space will provide a claustrophobic feeling and lack of room to move. This certainly cannot be the intention because a kitchen island is just as popular because of the openness and feeling of space.
